Bandrone 150mg Tablets BANDRONE 150 contains Ibandronic Acid (Ibandronate sodium), a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Ibandronic acid binds to hydroxyapatite crystals in the bone matrix and is internalized by osteoclasts during bone breakdown. It inhibits the enzyme farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FPPS) within osteoclasts, disrupting protein prenylation necessary for osteoclast survival, function, and cytoskeletal ring structure. This leads to osteoclast apoptosis, reduced bone turnover, and a net increase in bone mineral density. BANDRONE 150 is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and for the management of skeletal-related events in bone metastases.
