Desifer 100mg Tablets Desifer 100 contains Deferasirox, an orally active tridentate iron chelator that binds iron with high affinity in a 2:1 ratio. Deferasirox acts by selectively chelating free plasma and intracellular ferric iron (Fe3+), facilitating its clearance through biliary excretion. By removing excess iron, it reduces toxic labile plasma iron, preventing tissue deposition and secondary end-organ damage in cardiac, hepatic, and endocrine systems. Desifer* 100 is indicated for the treatment of chronic iron overload due to frequent blood transfusions (transfusional hemosiderosis) in patients with beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, and other anemias, as well as non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia syndromes.
