Pirfekast 400 Tablets PIRFEKAST-400 contains Pirfenidone, an orally active antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory agent. The exact mechanism of action involves suppressing the activity and transcription of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a key driver of fibroblast proliferation, myofibroblast differentiation, and collagen extracellular matrix deposition in pulmonary tissue. Additionally, pirfenidone attenuates inflammatory signaling by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). PIRFEKAST-400 is indicated for the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) to slow down disease progression and preserve vital lung capacity.
