Sobiaxis 500 Tablets SOBIAXIS contains Sodium Bicarbonate, a systemic and urinary alkalinizing agent. Upon oral administration, sodium bicarbonate dissociates into sodium and bicarbonate ions. The bicarbonate ions buffer excess hydrogen ion concentration in the blood and extracellular fluids, thereby elevating plasma bicarbonate levels, raising blood pH, and reversing systemic metabolic acidosis. Additionally, excess bicarbonate is excreted in the urine, elevating urinary pH and enhancing the solubility of weak organic acids (such as uric acid and cystine), which helps prevent urinary tract calculus formation and promotes the excretion of acidic toxins. SOBIAXIS is indicated for the management of metabolic acidosis associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), renal tubular acidosis, and conditions requiring urinary alkalinization.
