Velakast Tablets

Velakast Tablets Velakast is a fixed-dose combination oral direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy containing Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analogue prodrug that undergoes intracellular phosphorylation to generate an active uridine triphosphate metabolite (GS-461203), which incorporates into viral RNA via the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, causing chain termination. Velpatasvir is a potent pangenotypic inhibitor of the HCV NS5A non-structural protein, an essential viral protein required for viral RNA replication and virion assembly. By targeting two distinct non-structural proteins in the HCV lifecycle, Velakast achieves potent viral suppression across all major HCV genotypes. Velakast is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection (genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) in adult and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older, without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis, or in combination with ribavirin for patients with decompensated cirrhosis.
