Meroxis 1gm Injection MEROAXIS contains Meropenem, a ultra-broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the carbapenem subgroup. Meropenem exerts bactericidal action by readily penetrating the cell wall of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and selectively binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), primarily PBP 2, 3, and 4. This binding inhibits transpeptidase activity, blocking bacterial peptidoglycan cell wall synthesis and causing cell lysis and cell death. Meropenem exhibits strong stability against hydrolysis by most bacterial beta-lactamases, including penicillinases and cephalosporinases. MEROAXIS is indicated for the treatment of severe, complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and skin structure infections, bacterial meningitis, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and septicemia caused by susceptible strains.
