Targocid 400 mg Injection Targocid 400 mg contains Teicoplanin, a glycopeptide antibiotic produced by Actinoplanes teichomyceticus. It operates by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to the D-alanyl-D-alanine terminus of cell wall peptidoglycan precursors, preventing polymerization and leading to bacterial cell lysis. It is indicated for the treatment of severe, complicated Gram-positive infections—including those caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and enterococci—such as hospital-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, complicated urinary tract infections, infective endocarditis, and bacteremia/septicemia.
