TENOF EM Tablets TENOF EM is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication containing Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF) and Emtricitabine (FTC). Both active ingredients are synthetic nucleoside/nucleotide analogues that inhibit HIV-1 reverse transcriptase by competing with natural substrates and causing DNA chain termination. It is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients, as well as for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV-1 infection in high-risk individuals.
