UDIKAST-300 Tablets UDIKAST-300 contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (Ursodiol), a naturally occurring hydrophilic secondary bile acid. Ursodeoxycholic acid works by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion, reducing the fractional intestinal absorption of cholesterol, and solubilizing cholesterol from gallstones to facilitate gradual dissolution. Furthermore, it displaces toxic, hydrophobic endogenous bile acids from the enterohepatic circulation, protecting hepatocytes and cholangiocytes from oxidative stress and bile acid-induced apoptosis. It is indicated for the dissolution of radiolucent non-calcified gallstones, prevention of gallstone formation in rapid weight-loss patients, and management of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and chronic cholestatic liver diseases.
