SAMTICA 250 mg Tablets SAMTICA contains Abiraterone Acetate, a lipophilic ester prodrug of abiraterone. It functions as a selective, irreversible inhibitor of the 17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase enzyme complex (CYP17), which is required for androgen biosynthesis in testicular, adrenal, and prostatic tumor tissues. By blocking androgen production at all three sources, it suppresses serum testosterone levels to undetectable concentrations. It is indicated, usually in combination with prednisone or prednisolone, for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC).
